Cardboard reels for HEBGO: space-saving & effective branding

Together with HEBGO, we have developed a packaging concept for seals that combines function, efficiency and brand impact.

Partnership at eye level

The long-established Swiss company Hebgo AG specialises in fittings and seals for window and door construction. When a new packaging concept for the seals was required, the collaboration with Model was an obvious choice for HEBGO.

After all, what unites our companies is more than just our many years of experience: it is our shared aspiration to realise clever and efficient solutions.

‘Corrugated cardboard is my vocation’

Ruedi Zirlewagen knows the packaging industry like no other. He first worked for Model in the field over 30 years ago. ‘What fascinates me about Model? We are family - and we really live and breathe that here.’

With his expertise, he is our man for HEBGO. Together with the production team, he developed various solutions that are both functional and economical - all in the interests of the customer.

The wish: more brand impact, less storage space

Previously, the sealing strips at HEBGO were fixed with cable ties and shipped loose in cardboard boxes. The company was now looking for a carrier solution that not only had a higher quality appearance, but also ensured a neat, professional appearance on the construction site. In addition, the HEBGO lettering needed to be clearly visible on the new seal carrier.

Another requirement: The packaging had to be delivered flat to HEBGO's warehouse - traditional plastic or metal reels were therefore out of the question. Their hard core would take up an unnecessarily large amount of storage space when empty. Instead, a flat design that could be folded open was to ensure efficiency.

The solution: flat, functional, environmentally friendly

In close collaboration with Ruedi Zirlewagen, our product designer Michael Zissel has developed a simple but sophisticated cardboard reel for HEBGO. The cardboard reel is delivered flat and can be easily unfolded and attached to a hand crank. This allows the sealing strip to be rolled up easily and cleanly - without any additional auxiliary material.

When empty, the coil requires hardly any storage space. The individual components are punched and glued, which not only enables efficient production but also keeps costs low. The reel is made from 100% recyclable cardboard, which can be fully returned to our closed paper cycle - for an all-round sustainable packaging solution that combines functionality and environmental awareness.

Efficiently solved - in every respect

The new cardboard reel has now been in successful use at HEBGO for a year. Rudolf Zirlewagen is satisfied: ‘Our packaging solution fulfils all the requirements that HEBGO placed on us.’ It ensures a tidy appearance on the construction site, saves storage space and effectively puts the brand name centre stage. At the same time, the coil also scores highly in terms of sustainability - an all-round harmonious concept.
